A lawsuit filed by the families of four teenagers killed in a car crash four years ago has been dismissed, a state Supreme Court judge ruled.
The lawsuit, filed against the City of Yonkers and its police department, alleged that officers mishandled a pursuit that led to the fatal crash.
However, the judge determined that the driver's actions justified the police pursuit and that officers had ended the chase a third of a mile before the crash occurred.
The crash occurred in 2019 when the car the teens were in was struck by another vehicle.
An attorney for the city called the incident an "unfortunate tragedy" but said the court correctly ruled on the law and facts presented.
