(09/14/06) BEACON - John Hall took aim at Congresswoman Sue Kelly (R-NY) as he loaded up the support of Democrats he defeated in Tuesday's primary.
Hall, challenging Kelly to her 19th District House seat, received endorsements from Judy Aydelot, Ben Shuldiner and Darren Rigger. Hall overcame the trio with 49 percent of the vote to become the Democratic candidate earlier this week. State Democratic Party Chairman Denny Farrell joined the group in Hall's Beacon headquarters for the endorsement speeches. Hall's campaigners say he is counting on party unity, as well as anti-Iraq and anti-Bush sentiment, to translate into votes come November. Republican Sue Kelly's campaign spokesman Jay Townsend says the endorsements were expected.
The 19th Congressional District represents all of Putnam County and parts of Orange, Rockland, Dutchess and northern Westchester counties. Rep. Kelly is seeking her seventh House term.
