Civil Rights activist Jesse Jackson made a stop at the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church in Mount Vernon Saturday to talk about the economic crisis as a part of his ?The Fallout of the Bailout? tour.
?Now as prices go up and jobs go down, they?re facing desperation, and that?s why we need to come together for an economic agenda corresponding with a political agenda,? Jackson said to more than 50 people who gathered at the church.
Mount Vernon Mayor Clinton Young attended the event to get ideas on how to stimulate the economy in his city.
?Looking for some kind of solution, some kind of roadmap, to [the] problems in Mount Vernon in terms of economy,? Young said.
Jackson is expected to hold a Wall Street Project economic summit in Manhattan next week to address a variety of topics ranging from the subprime crisis to economic security.
