A mosquito and tick control company in northern Westchester is sharing advice on how to handle tick season this year.

"There is high number of ticks and a high percentage of them do carry Lyme disease,” says Waccabuc resident Malcolm Rollo.

Rollo recently moved to the county and enjoys a lot about the Hudson Valley’s great outdoors – except tick season.   

Companies like Westchester Organics Mosquito and Tick Control say they’ve been working overtime. Owner Daniel Datino is bringing an organic solution to rid properties of the blood suckers.

This season I've had more calls this spring than I did all of last year,” says Datino.

His company uses essential oils instead of harsh chemicals. "We use a cedar oil mix that will kill them on contact and repel them for up to 21 days,” says Datino.

News 12 is told the mixture is safe for pets, kids and critters -- minus the ticks.

Many of Datino’s clients rave about the company because of what they use to rid and remove the insects. "We really wanted a solution which was going to be good for the environment,” says Rollo.
