Irvington has been given $1,136,000 for drainage improvements in the village.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation awarded the grant, the third largest grant of its kind in the state, to focus on Harriman Road near Broadway.
The project will include the installation of a new culvert and other infrastructure designed to mitigate flooding and protect the surrounding community. "We are thrilled to receive this grant, which will help us enhance our progress on flood mitigation in our community," said Mayor Brian Smith. "Flooding has caused significant damage and disruption in the past, and we are grateful for the opportunity to improve the infrastructure and protect our residents."
Construction on the project is set to begin later in 2023 and is expected to last 12-18 months.
