Iona hires coach Tobin Anderson away from Fairleigh Dickinson

Tobin Anderson led Fairleigh Dickinson University to a major upset on Friday when the No. 16 seeded Knights defeated No. 1 ranked Purdue in the NCAA opening round.

Iona University has hired away Fairleigh Dickinson University's Tobin Anderson to replace men's basketball coach Rick Pitino.
Iona announced the appointment of Anderson just 24 hours after losing Pitino.
Anderson led Fairleigh Dickinson University to a major upset on Friday when the No. 16 seeded Knights defeated No. 1 ranked Purdue in the NCAA opening round. They lost to Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
Before joining FDU, Anderson coached at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill.
Pitino was announced yesterday as the new coach at St. John's University.
