Indian Point work crews completed the repair of a pipe Saturday, stopping a radioactive leak.

A spokesperson for Indian Point says a broken 8-inch pipe in the non-nuclear section of the plant was leaking liquid that contained trace amounts of radioactive tritium, but it never presented any danger to the public.

Some local residents, however, remain skeptical.

"Sometimes with government entities you never know if they are telling you the truth,? says Wanda Tidline, of Buchanan. "If they tell us it's not a danger to the public, you hope they are telling the truth."

Other longtime northern Westchester residents say work is frequently being done at Indian Point, and there is nothing out of the ordinary about it.

?Any incidents at Indian Point [are] not going to affect us,? says Ivan Ward, of Verplank.

The water drained into the Hudson River from the nuclear plant contained one tenth of tritium, which is the amount permitted by law.
