Nurses from Montefiore New Rochelle say they are threatening to strike due to inadequate resources to fight rising cases of COVID-19.
They say they are badly understaffed and that it's hurting their ability to care for patients.
They're asking hospital leaders to come to the table and negotiate a two-year outstanding contract - arguing better pay and benefits will help retain staff longer.
The nurses are giving Montefiore just over a week to reach an agreement before nearly all 200 nurses promise to strike for two days.
In a statement, a Montefiore spokesperson tells News 12, "It's disgraceful that NYSNA leadership is threatening a strike after being offered over 7% in salary increases during a pandemic when hospitals and individuals are struggling financially."
