Nearly 300 volunteers gathered at Ardsley High School this weekend for the 16th annual "Ardsley Cares Day," packing over 1,200 bags of food, toiletries, activity kits, and sporting goods for Westchester organizations.
The donations, collected from community schools, will support groups like Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, The Sharing Shelf, Lift Up Westchester, Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry, and Play It Forward.
Ardsley Community Enrichment (ACE PTO) packed over 400 snack bags for Midnight Run, while an environmental team and local scout troop cleared invasive vines and 400 pounds of trash from Macy Park.
A team of young kids and Girl Scouts also baked and packed 500 dog biscuits for Yonkers Animal Shelter in two hours.
Participants in village's largest volunteer effort say it unites people to help charities and preserve natural spaces.
