Officials say there could be a record turnout at the polls in Westchester and the Hudson Valley come November, as thousands of new voters continue to sign up.
At the campus of Manhattanville College in Purchase, some first-time voters filled out their paperwork Thursday. Pace University junior Dakeisha Roberts is leading an initiative to register students locally before Friday's deadline.
"If they register here at Pace in Westchester, we can physically get them out to the polling sites to vote," Roberts says.
In Westchester County, about 12,000 young voters cast a ballot in 2004. Officials say more than four times that amount have already registered this year.
