Hudson Valley children spent Christmas Eve delivering sweet treats to first responders in Somers.
Operation Cookie Run was organized by the United States Volunteer Emergency Management as a way to bring holiday cheer to local police, firefighters and EMS.
Fifth graders at Somers Intermediate School delivered the hot cocoa and cookies.
"They are not here on Christmas Day with their families and stuff, so we wanted to give them a treat," said fifth grader, Juliana Maffei.
Those who received the snacks were grateful for the gesture.
"I'm deeply touched by it because when everyone else is sleeping on Christmas and New Year’s, we are out here at 3 a.m. because that's the nature of the job," said Somers Police Chief Michael Driscoll.
Volunteers also delivered cookies and hot cocoa to first responders in Mount Vernon and White Plains.
