Some Hudson Valley residents were among the faithful hoping to catch a glimpse of Pope Francis during his time in New York City Thursday.
The crowds spent hours going through security and checkpoints, and eventually waiting in the church.
One Yonkers resident is hoping the pope might be able to save her church, which was recently shuttered by the Archdiocese of New York.
"This is a letter from our church, St. Denis in Yonkers," says Angelica Romero. "So we had a hope the pope could open our church."
Another resident, Eva Carvalho, of New Rochelle, says that even if she sees the pope from a distance, it would be a dream come true.
