As restrictions ease, many Hudson Valley families are debating on taking vacations this year.
Donna Pascucci, of Somers, says she and her family plan on vacationing at the end of July.
"Our plan this year is to go to a resort in Virginia at the end of July. That's been prebooked, and we're driving,” says Pascucci. “We're ready to go on with life as safely as possible,” says Pascucci. “Life has risks you have to live.”
When deciding on destinations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended considering if coronavirus is spreading where you’re going or in your community, and if the state or local government where you live or at your destination require quarantining for 14 days after traveling.
Luckily for statewide residents, AAA has a travel restriction map to assist.
“We're trying to keep that map as up to date as possible with whatever city or municipality or CDC is requiring,” says Robert Sinclair of AAA.
News 12 is told for international destinations, it’s recommended to use a travel agency to help navigate restrictions overseas.
Still, man Hudson Valley families are not comfortable with traveling again just yet.
One travel agency in the region told News 12 that every one of its 2020 trips has been canceled with only one new booking for 2021.
"We know that flying trips are way way down, depending on what analyst you speak to between 75 and 90 percent,” says Sinclair.
Most people are playing it safe and driving, as opposed to flying.
According to the RV Industry Association, the organization has seen the biggest surge in sales since 1992.
