A Hudson Valley man is being called a hero after demonstrating bravery and courage in the face of terror during the Oct. 31 truck attack in Manhattan.

News 12 is told that William Harris, a Marine vet and volunteer firefighter of Pearl River, was stopped in his work truck at an intersection downtown when he saw the suspected attacker, Sayfullo Saipov headed toward him.

Harris says he parked the truck and began running after Saipov for what felt like an eternity until police shot the suspect. Even then, Harris says he remained at the scene, kicking the guns out of Saipov’s hands.

"I said, ‘You have two kids at home, are you insane?’” says Harris’ wife, Casey. “But one of the reasons I love Billy is that he is who he is, and he's the kind of guy who is going to do what he did."
