A Hudson Valley man celebrated his 90th birthday by jumping out of a plane.
John Schultz says he always wanted to jump after an experience while serving in the Air Force more than 60 years ago. He says his fellow airmen had to make a life-or-death decision when a B29 had an emergency, and some of the crew did not make it.
“I said little prayers, wishing they were all in heaven,” he said.
His landing was perfect, but Schultz says he was prepared.
“I'll tell you. When you a jump out of an airplane at 20,000 feet or whatever, it's cold up there,” he says.
And when you’re free-falling at 120 mph, Schultz says it's also important to pack a sense of humor.
He says his daughter told him to keep his mouth shut or he would lose his false teeth.
