If you thought Wednesday was hot and humid, today will be even worse.
The heat will peak with temperatures getting into the low- to mid-90s, but it will feel more like the upper-90s to the low 100 degree range. A heat advisory is in effect again, so it's important to remember the combination of heat and humidity can be dangerous.
Health officials say people need to pay attention to how they are feeling. Dizziness, nausea, breathing problems, and cold clammy skin or hot dry skin are signs of heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Medical experts remind everyone to take breaks to cool off if you must be outside and stay hydrated. If you don't have air conditioning, get to a cooling center in your community at a library, senior center or schools. Check with your local police department or town hall to find out where there are cooling centers in your community.
Nine Westchester beaches are still closed due to Monday's storm:
New Rochelle:
Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club and Surf Club on the Sound.
Mamaroneck:
Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club.
Rye:
The Coveleigh Club.
However, many public pools, water parks and splash pads will have extended hours today for folks to cool off.
