An exciting weekend is in store as the Section One high school basketball championships are being played in White Plains at the Westchester County Center.
The class A and AA championship games are set to take place Sunday, including the Fox Lane boys team against perennial powerhouse Mount Vernon.
Mount Vernon is the two-time defending Class AA champion. The Knights pulled away in the second half for a convincing 18-point win over Saunders in the semifinals.
"Mount Vernon has its legacies and I never knew I would play for them one day," says guard Derrick Hamlin. "Now that I'm part of the team, this is very great."
Emmit Robin's three pointer helped Fox Lane hold off White Plains in the semifinals, but unlike Mount Vernon's storied program, Sunday will be Foxes' first time in the title game since they won it in 2004.
