used those exact words Thursday, reporting labor costs were 84% higher than in
2019.

According to the group, hospitals have been
forced to use more expensive travel nurses due to staff shortages caused by the
pandemic.
The industry group went so far as to send a
letter to the Federal Trade Commission to complain about anti-competitive
pricing.
Hospital administrators say they are not trying
to cap nurses' pay, and they simply want an investigation of the
practices of certain staffing agencies.
