A nearly 2-century-old church in Yonkers is at risk of shutting down.
Parishioners at St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception say the archdiocese has sent notice of its closure plans.
Members who spoke with News 12 say they are worried that this year's Holy Week may be the last celebrated in the historic church.
"It's heart-wrenching. I can't even put it into words," said one parishioner. "This church means everything to everyone. We've lived here since birth. I got baptized, I got my confirmation here, and my parents were born in this church."
Longtime members say they are working with the Yonkers City Council in hopes of finding a solution.
