The historic carousel at Rye Playland Amusement Park turned 100 years old Sunday.
Actors in period outfits kicked off the day's celebrations with an old-fashioned happy birthday song as they attempted to transport crowds back to 1915 - the year the grand carousel was born.
Visitors at the park took rides on the carousel, which features 60 hand-carved horses and three chariots bedazzled with jewels.
The historic ride was built in New Haven 13 years before the park opened and moved to Rye for Playland's grand opening in 1927.
