In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Rockland County honored three leaders for their outstanding contributions to the community throughout the pandemic.
They include Rosario Urena, who helped with distributions of needed supplies through her nonprofit; Dr. Richard Hernandez Peralta, who treated patients for free during the pandemic; and Miriam Avila who helped connect families to much-needed resources during the pandemic.
Hispanic Americans make up nearly 20% of the population in Rockland County.
