AAA estimates more than 122 million Americans will travel between Saturday and New Year’s Day, with millions taking to the skies.

At LaGuardia Airport, travelers are already feeling the rush. Flights were largely on time early in the day.

The Transportation Security Administration is reminding travelers to arrive at least two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international departures. Passengers are also urged to check airline and airport-specific guidelines before heading out.

TSA officials emphasized the importance of having proper identification, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport or another acceptable form of identification.

Travelers are also encouraged to pack carefully and remember that liquids in carry-on bags must be 3.4 ounces or less.

Many passengers were heading west to visit family, while others were escaping colder temperatures for warmer destinations. Others were looking forward to a more relaxed getaway.

“I’m with my friends,” said Sabrina of Connecticut. “We’re going to go to the beach, have some dinners and have some fun.”

Travel experts recommend allowing extra time at the airport throughout the holiday season to avoid stress — and to reduce the risk of missing a flight amid record-breaking travel volumes.
