Residents in Valhalla spent Tuesday dealing with the aftermath of heavy rain, including power outages, flooded driveways and a downed tree that blocked part of a neighborhood street.
A tree fell on Wilson Avenue near McKinley Avenue, prompting officials to put up caution tape around the area.
Residents said an 18-wheeler struck a transformer near Legion Drive earlier in the day. They said the truck later attempted to turn onto Wilson Avenue but was unable to because of the downed tree. Neighbors said the vehicle then headed toward Livingston Avenue, where it struck a fire hydrant and knocked it over.
Neighbors told News 12 they have been without power for much of the day. According to Con Edison’s outage map, approximately 144 customers were without electricity as of 3 p.m.
A fire truck was seen assisting one homeowner with a flooded basement earlier in the day. Neighbors said they had been told power could be restored by around 8 p.m.
