White Plains Hospital Center doctors are seeing an influx of patients with heat-related illnesses since temperatures hit above 90 degrees.
"People get disoriented," says Dr. Erik Larsen. "They feel weak and can't stand up. They lose their strength."
Larsen says the elderly and people with pre-existing conditions should be especially mindful during a heat wave. Experts warn people to stay hydrated and seek shade.
People who have to be outside for a living say they'd much rather be in the shade also.
