Heat is slowly warming up a Yonkers building where residents had been without heat for nearly two weeks.
The city's housing and building commissioner says the heat has been restored at 7383 Highland Ave. Tuesday night.
He says the problem started with failed circulation pumps and no backup system.
Tenants have said that the landlord has paid for their hotel stay until Wednesday.
A city spokesperson says they had intervened by putting pressure on the landlord, who has been slapped with about a dozen summonses for his failure to provide heat in the building.
News 12 attempted to reach out to the landlord, Israel Roizman, but he was unavailable.
Inspectors will be at the building Wednesday to check the temperatures of the apartments before allowing anyone to come back home. By state law the temperature inside must be 68 degrees, if the weather falls below 55.
