Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
The Woodbury Fire Department responded to two serious accidents in Orange County this weekend. The first occurred late Friday night, involving a rollover on the Thruway southbound entrance ramp. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. The second accident, just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, was a head-on collision on Route 6 near the lakes. Five individuals were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Clarkstown police issued a warning for holiday shoppers buying gift cards. Scammers are manipulating cards with their own activated barcode stickers, allowing access to loaded funds. To protect against this scam, police recommend asking cashiers to open the card and check it before purchase. Additionally, opting to buy cards from behind the counter could offer added security.
In lighter news, there are Powerball winners in the Hudson Valley today. Two third-prize winners will each take home $50,000, with winning tickets sold in New Rochelle at 1 Marina Deli and in Newburgh at Smokes for Less.
