A man is in police custody this morning following a violent altercation that left a 30-year-old woman hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident occurred Saturday night in the vicinity of 98 Harding Avenue in White Plains. The victim sustained stab wounds to her face, neck, and body and was rushed to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. Carlos Perez Obed-Tovar has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. While authorities have confirmed that the victim and suspect were acquainted, a motive for the attack has not yet been disclosed. Obed-Tovar is currently detained in the county jail without bail.
Tragedy struck on Monday evening as one person lost their life in a fatal crash on I-84 in the Town of Kent. According to state police, the vehicle veered off the road, collided with a tree, and subsequently caught fire. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the accident and have yet to release the identity of the deceased individual.
The Hudson Valley community mourns the loss of Nicolas Faust, a National Guard sergeant whose body was discovered over a month after he was reported missing. Faust was last seen on March 24 at a house party on Mill Street in Poughkeepsie. His car was found by state police on March 28 in a parking lot behind a house. Family members revealed that Faust had been residing in his vehicle and working as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home in Peekskill. State police have stated that there is no evidence of foul play in Faust's disappearance and subsequent death.
