An Orange County man is facing 20 years to life in prison in connection to a deadly shooting in Wallkill. Jamaad Murphy, of Wallkill, admitted to shooting and killing Matthew Napoleoni, 23, outside a restaurant and sports bar back in 2019. Murphy was the subject of a 14 month multistate manhunt before he was arrested in Rockland County last January.
Police in Montgomery say a driver asleep at the wheel caused last week's deadly crash on Route 17-K. They say the driver fell asleep, crossed over the double yellow line, and struck an oncoming car - killing a 44-year-old Buffalo woman. Brennon Hernandez, 20, is facing numerous charges.
Several officers at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility were injured after being attacked by an inmate. A female inmate allegedly faked a suicide attempt and then attacked the officers who came to her aid. A sergeant suffered multiple broken bones and was taken to the hospital. The inmate, who is serving an 11-year sentence, now faces disciplinary charges for the attack.
