Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A New Rochelle woman is facing assault charges following an altercation incited by an unleashed dog on a trail in northern Westchester. County police reported that a woman from Connecticut was walking at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation when an unleashed dog approached her. After advising the owners about the necessity of a leash, a dispute ensued. Dawn Ryeck was subsequently charged with assault, accused of striking the victim in the head, resulting in a laceration, and causing her to fall. Her husband, Steven, faces charges of criminal mischief for allegedly shattering the victim's cell phone against a rock. Two other park visitors provided the victim with a phone to call 9-1-1. The victim was then transported to Northern Westchester Hospital. The Reichs are scheduled to appear in Pound Ridge Town Court on November 20th.
Police are actively searching for a missing boater from Rockland. Rafael Lemus from Suffern was on a boat that sank off the Connecticut shore. While three people on board were rescued by another group of boaters, Lemus and another man remain unaccounted for. The remains of Juan Pineda from Spring Valley were subsequently located three miles away.
A woman, Angelica Rodriguez from Otisville, has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in Middletown. She could potentially face 10 years in prison with three years of post-release supervision. Rodriguez is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 26 on drug conspiracy charges.
