HEADLINES: Trooper injured in crash, beagles abandoned, Yonkers welcomes new officers

Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A New York State Trooper is recovering this morning after his cruiser was struck in Ulster County. Police say the trooper was investigating an unrelated crash when a Mini Cooper lost control and hit the car from behind. Two passengers in the Mini Cooper were also injured.
Officials in Orange County are searching for an owner who abandoned a dozen beagles after three more dogs were found over the weekend. Rescuers with the Goshen Humane Society say the dogs were found Sunday, abandoned in Goshen's Black Dirt Farm region, where other beagles were found before. They say the dogs are female and some show signs of recently having puppies. Despite being abandoned and afraid, News 12 is told the dogs otherwise seem to be OK. Anyone with information about their owner is asked to call Goshen Town police.
The Yonkers Police Department will welcome new officers to its force today. The swearing in ceremony will take place at noon outside of City Hall.
