Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
Movado Thomas, of Mount Vernon, has been arrested on allegations of orchestrating an intricate theft scheme, defrauding a HomeGoods store in Connecticut of merchandise valued at hundreds of dollars. Police reports reveal Thomas's purported involvement in stealing an $800 item from the store in December 2020. Subsequently, it is alleged that Thomas returned the stolen item to another HomeGoods location, where he obtained store credit in exchange. Further investigation indicates that Thomas utilized both the store credit and a credit card to conduct multiple purchases. Following these transactions, Thomas allegedly returned all the purchased items using a new receipt, thereby receiving a complete refund credited back to his credit card.
A Yorktown man, Michael Landolfi, faces charges following his alleged involvement in a series of incidents targeting the service building at Sparkle Lake. According to authorities, these incidents spanned over 18 months. Landolfi was initially arrested in May in connection with one of the incidents. However, earlier this month, he voluntarily surrendered to authorities and was subsequently charged in connection with the two earlier incidents as well. He now faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief related to these occurrences. The incidents involved the breaking of windows at the service building, prompting an ongoing investigation by law enforcement officials.
