Here are some stories making headline across the Hudson Valley.
A manhunt is underway for a man who opened fire this morning outside the Yonkers Police Department headquarters on South Broadway. Witnesses say a male suspect approached a parked car around 11:45 a.m. and fired two rounds. The person believed to be the target managed to jump out of the car and flee into the nearby Yonkers City Court building. Detectives say there's no immediate threat to public safety. The suspect remains at large.
The Putnam SPCA has accused a woman from Kent of failing to register in the county's animal cruelty registry. Tammy Williams, 46, was arrested in 2020 on three counts of animal abandonment. SPCA officials say Williams moved to another state in 2021 and then returned to Putnam last year but never contacted the SPCA.
An Orange County man is going to prison for a $250,000 fraud scheme. Investigators say it started in March 2021 and lasted for more than a year. They say it also involved multiple banks. Investigators say Anthony Dubuisson from Newburgh and other defendants deposited altered checks belonging to Ironworkers Local 417 and other businesses, then withdrew cash. They also created fake business accounts to help with those deposits, according to investigators. Dubuisson was sentenced to 3 to 10 years.
