Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Poughkeepsie woman lost her life in a fatal crash within Ulster County. Town of Lloyd police reported that a Poughkeepsie man, driving southbound on Route 9-W, veered into the northbound lane and collided with a car traveling north. The driver of the northbound car sustained internal injuries and was hospitalized, while his passenger succumbed to her injuries. The 21-year-old southbound driver remained uninjured.
Three firefighters are in the process of recovery following their response to a fire in Mount Vernon. The incident occurred on Washington Street Monday. Officials indicated that the fire originated at the rear of a residence and subsequently spread to the attic. Thankfully, no residents were harmed. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Two individuals are facing charges for allegedly stealing approximately $5,000 worth of medication from an Eastchester Walgreens. Ernesto Serrano and Velvet Jefferson are accused of committing the theft at the White Plains Road pharmacy last Thursday. Subsequently, the NYPD apprehended the suspects, discovering around $8,000 worth of over-the-counter medications during the arrest. Both individuals are charged with grand larceny and are presently in custody at Westchester County Jail.
