A Newburgh man is facing charges for alleged sex crimes against a child. Police say Jamarr Smith, 22, engaged in sexual conduct with a child less than 17 years old. He's charged with rape and endangering the welfare of a child, among other charges. Smith is being held in Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. Anyone who may have been a victim of Smith, who police say also goes by Jay, Sheesh Dior and Dirty Dior, is asked to contact New York State Police at 845-291-2836
Officials say a motorcycle and a car collided on Yonkers Avenue at Walnut Street near the BP Gas Station on Tuesday. The motorcycle driver was injured. The cause of the crash has not been released. Yonkers Avenue was shut down Tuesday afternoon while crews responded to the scene.
More details have been released about a police chase that happened in Eastchester. Police say David Gonzalez, of Cortlandt Manor, entered the auto body shop where he used to work on Saturday and hit an employee in the head with a metal baton. He then threatened to shoot the victim's family before driving off. Police chased Gonzalez down the Taconic State Parkway. He's now charged with assault and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
