Two young men from New Rochelle are now facing murder charges in connection with the death of a 20-year-old Mount Vernon woman. Aaliyah Waiters was shot in the head on Sept. 25 while standing with a group of people in the South Third Avenue area of  Mount Vernon. She was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where she died. The suspects have been identified as 21-year-old Laquan Jones and 20-year-old Tyquan Carcamo, both of New Rochelle. Jones and Carcamo were arraigned in Mount Vernon City Court on second-degree murder charges and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
A man from Albany has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment in connection to a road rage shooting incident in Peekskill. Police say Jose Fernandez stopped his car suddenly on Route 9 Friday night, resulting in a minor collision. Fernandez then allegedly left his vehicle and fired three rounds, hitting the victim's vehicle, and then fled. He was arrested the next morning in Albany.
A new warning from New York's Attorney General is warning the public about products that appear to be snacks for kids - but they actually contain high levels of cannabis and THC. The products are illegal and unregulated in New York. There are growing concerns they could be harmful to adults and even more dangerous to kids who consume them thinking they are a snack and could potentially overdose. If you encounter the products, you're asked to file a complaint with the office of the Attorney General.
