Here are a couple of stories making news in the Hudson Valley this Friday:
Police are now calling a double stabbing in New City on Thursday night an attempted murder-suicide. It happened shortly after 9 p.m. Police say two people believed to be a man and a woman were injured inside the home, but they are not saying who stabbed who. Detectives say both were rushed to Nyack Hospital with life-threatening injuries and an investigation is now underway.
The coffee table that Joseph Gluck threw at the attacker during last year's Monsey Hanukkah attack has been transformed into a Menorah stand. It has nine branches stand, replicating a Dreidel, with the Hebrew inscription "A Big Miracle Happened Here." It was almost one year ago when this story made national headlines. The suspect is accused of stabbing his victims at a rabbi's home last December with one of them dying in March. So far, that suspect has been deemed unfit to stand trial.
An investigation now underway into a Thursday night shooting in the city of Poughkeepsie. Police say the incident happened in the area of Montgomery Street and Garfield Place shortly before 7 p.m. Neighbors say they heard six or seven gunshots. Police say a male victim was taken to a nearby hospital for gunshot wounds with injuries that are not life-threatening. There is no word on any suspects or motive.
