Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A memorial was set up in honor of 75-year-old Juan Germosen, who was killed in a hit-and-run in Haverstraw. He was struck at the intersection of Paramount Avenue over a week ago. Germosen’s family is advocating for more sidewalks, crosswalks and lighting to be installed for pedestrians.
Dozens of firefighters responded to a fire on Montgomery Street in Goshen early Thursday. Neighbors say at least one person was home and quickly escaped. No injuries were reported, but three people were displaced. Police are investigating the cause.
Westchester County is getting ahead on its search for lifeguards for next summer. Those interested can apply on the county’s website.
