Here are some of the stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A New City man will spend 18 years to life behind bars after shooting his boss. Officials say Gerard O'Sullivan, 61, shot Noe Hamer, 42,  last year in the parking lot of  T.J. McGowan's Funeral Home in Haverstraw. Authorities say O’Sullivan shot Hamer after he was told he was being fired.
A Metro-North employee was fired because of his involvement in the U.S. Capitol Riot.  William Pepe, 31, of Beacon, is accused of assault of police officers and robbery. He also allegedly called in sick on Jan. 6 so he could go to Washington, D.C. 
The Mid-Hudson region has the highest COVID-19 positivity rate in all of New York, according to latest data from the state. The region is at 4.29% while the positivity rate is 3.9% statewide.
Preparations for in-person learning is now underway at New Rochelle Middle and High School. Students are expected to return on March 23. Last month, elementary students returned to the classroom four days a week.
