Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
A Wallkill woman has been sentenced to serve 2-to-6 years in prison for stealing $90,000 from her insurance company. Shirley Bowens submitted fake bills for misrepresented hospitalizations and various medical treatments, according to the county district attorney.
The owner of a narcotics delivery service, Jose Luis Tejada Aybar, has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for three overdose deaths, including two people in Yonkers. Authorities stated that one of Tejada's employees delivered cocaine tainted with fentanyl to three customers, resulting in the deaths of Martin Banks and Edward Lynch of Yonkers, and Marsha Clarke of the Bronx. Two of Tejada's employees also received prison time.
A yearlong investigation into narcotics trafficking in the Ulster County Jail has led to 11 arrests. During the investigation, approximately 650 doses of Suboxone were seized within the jail. Officers also tracked approximately $16,000 in commissary funds and Cash App funds used for the trafficking operation.
