A man is recovering this morning after a stabbing in Greenburgh this past weekend. Police say it happened at the BP gas station on Aqueduct Road around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning. Police say he was attacked by a group of people and stabbed in the head. The attackers then took off in a blue Mazda 3 and a gray Toyota sedan before officers arrived. No arrests have been made.

Good Samaritans sprang into action to protect a special needs man at the Cortlandt Town Center. News 12 is told they called 911 and pointed the attacker out to officers. Police say 64-year-old Jean Donatien, an employee of Opengate, slapped and knocked the victim's head into a van window. He now faces a felony charge.

An Orange County Sheriff's Office deputy has been named New York's deputy of the year. Investigator John O'Brien was honored by the New York State Sheriff's Association for his quick-thinking actions that helped save an officer's life. O'Brien, who was working with the U.S. Marshal Service Regional Task Force at the time, was assigned to apprehend a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a Massachusetts state trooper. During the operation, two officers were shot. That's when O'Brien jumped into action, administering first aid to one officer and ultimately helping save his life.
