A longtime assistant to the Orange County executive has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against one of his former bosses, The lawsuit was filed by Justin Rodriguez against Deputy County Executive Harry Porr. It accuses the official of making inappropriate remarks about Rodriguez's Jewish and Latino heritage. It also claims Rodriguez filed a workplace complaint that ended in Porr being removed as his direct supervisor. Attorneys for both Porr and Rodriguez have not responded to News 12 requests for comment.
A New York City man has been charged with burglarizing synagogues in Monsey on several occasions. Joel Jungries, 42, stole from three synagogues on Jan. 6, according to the Ramapo Police Department's Investigations Division. The synagogues along Monsey Boulevard and Suzanne Drive were targeted, police said. Jungries allegedly went back to the synagogues on Jan. 20 to steal more items. He was later arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with five counts of burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny and two counts of possession of burglar tools.
A man is now facing charges of menacing with a handgun in New Rochelle. Police responded to Broccoli Smoke Shop on North Avenue just before 6 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, the suspect had already left the scene. A little over an hour later, police received a call that he had returned. Police arrested Isaiah Sutton without incident.
