Hazmat units responded to a mercury spill on Ward Street in Norwalk.
Officials say a Norwalk Housing Authority employee called the fire department Wednesday afternoon after finding a significant amount of mercury underneath a resident's vehicle inside the Irving Freese complex.
Emergency units set up a perimeter and tested residents with meters to determine if it spread throughout the neighborhood.
The owner of the vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is expected to be OK.
No residents were forced to evacuate and officials said there is no danger to the neighborhood at this time.
