Haverstraw police captain expected to be promoted to chief

Haverstraw Town Police Captain John Gould is expected to be promoted to chief at tonight's town board meeting, marking the third leadership change at a Rockland County police department this month.
Gould has been with the Haverstraw department for 17 years, after serving three years with the Mount Vernon Police Department.
He will succeed Peter Murphy, who served as chief for the past six years.
Earlier this month, the police chiefs in Ramapo and Stony Point also retired.
