A new cannabis dispensary in Hastings-on-Hudson is drawing criticism from some in the community.
Highline Cannabis was approved to open last month by the state Office of Cannabis Management. The store is located on Main Street.
At a recent village board meeting, several residents voiced concern that the shop is too close to places that serve children.
The owner defended the business, saying he is following all state regulations.
"The Highline, we're about protecting children. Top priority. No one under 21 will ever be allowed inside the store. Ever," he said.
Another speaker added, "Kids are doing cannabis in this town. They are starting early, and to think they're not going to have a more convenient source of it with a dispensary in town is kidding ourselves."
The cannabis shop was not on the official agenda, but the board said it would pass the concerns along to its attorney.
