Hastings officials passed a resolution Tuesday night in an effort to rally the community and fight the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century?s recent closure recommendations.

Last week, the commission announced a list of health care facilities throughout the state to be shut down in an effort to save money. The Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry and Andrus on Hudson Nursing Home were on the list. Hastings officials say not only are both facilities vital to their community, but they're also profitable. People who have family at Andrus on Hudson, which has been operating for more than 50 years, are concerned about moving elderly residents out of the 247-bed home.

State legislators now have to decide what to do with the commission's recommendations. Meanwhile, the state Assembly Health Committee is expected to hold a public hearing on the matter December 11 in White Plains.
