Officials in Peekskill broke ground today on a $4 million waterfront park and trail system.
The new project is being called the Riverfront Green South and Peekskill Bay Greenway.
The southern waterfront will be transformed into a 3-acre park and a 1-mile trail system.
The state put up the funds to connect the existing Riverfront Green to the Charles Point Pier Park.
Officials say that when construction is complete, Peekskill will have one of the most spectacular waterfonts in all of Westchester.
Officials say construction should be completed by next year.
