Grief counselors will be on hand Wednesday at Goshen Central High School to help students cope with the loss of two classmates who lost their lives in a crash.
Paul VanDoran and Antonio Baglivo, both 16 years old, were killed Tuesday when the car they were riding in for driver's ed was struck by a tractor-trailer at the corner of County Road 1 and Blooms Corners Road in Warwick. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer was heading westbound on County Road 1 when he approached an intersection with a blinking yellow light and stop signs on both sides. The driver's education vehicle carrying four high school students and their instructor made a left onto County Road 1, and the vehicles collided.
"We're flooded with calls. The community is upside down," says Superintendent Daniel Connor. "We've lost two great kids, wonderful boys."
Also hurt in the crash were Lucas O'Connor, who is entering his junior year, and Claudia Krebs, who will be a senior and was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Both were rushed to Westchester Medical Center. O'Connor is listed as critical while Krebs was listed in good condition.
Administrators say the grief counselors will be at the school for as long as necessary in order to help everyone deal with this tragedy.
