Greenburgh leaders say part of the town is on the verge of a renaissance after a lot of recent store vacancies.
Supervisor Paul Feiner says new, unique businesses are popping up, including a cat hotel.
Feiner says that creativity is why new businesses in the area will be successful.
He says stores successful there years ago aren't anymore because e-commerce has taken over, but a cat hotel needs a brick-and-mortar spot.
"Sometimes, when you have creative and fun type of businesses coming to an area, it could encourage other businesses to also want to come and open up shops on Central Avenue.”
Happy Cat Hotel & Spa Westchester is a 25-room place for your cat to stay while you're away. There are no cages, just fun themed rooms with climbing equipment, toys, webcams and more.
Co-owner Christina Marrazza says during the pandemic, she re-evaluated her life and decided to open the franchise's first New York location.
She says it took months to find the right spot, but Greenburgh's government is very supportive and she's proud to be part of this new renaissance on Central Avenue.
"As a White Plains resident, I've seen all the empty storefronts for so long and it's great seeing the life come back into the street,” Marrazza says.
Feiner adds, "It will fill a vacancy on Central Avenue. It will also attract people who may not normally shop on Central Avenue."
Feiner says it will also help attract other stores.
Cult favorite Crumbl Cookies, golf simulator businesses and Barnes & Noble have all also recently announced new stores in the area.
Happy Cat Hotel hopes to open in the next few months. It plans to start taking reservations for June this weekend.
