Gov. Kathy Hochul is pushing for a major shift in how smartphones are used in New York schools.
Hochul's proposal would restrict smartphone use in K-12 schools.
The proposal includes nearly $14 million to provide storage solutions for phones.
She spoke Tuesday to reaffirm her commitment to creating a more focused learning environment.
As News 12 has reported, several school in the state, including districts in the Hudson Valley, have already instituted their own restrictions on cellphone use.
