Before marching in the big pride parade Sunday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo added a new title to his resume -- officiant in chief.
The governor married David Contreras Turley and Peter Thiede outside the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village. The Stonewall is considered the birthplace of the gay rights movement.
Turley works for the Human Rights Campaign, which was a major player in working with Cuomo to pass same sex marriage in New York in 2011.
Until late last week, Cuomo and former governors were not allowed by law to perform marriages.
After the governor pushed for it, the Legislature granted Cuomo the right to officiate Thursday night.
